Sketchbook

Artists use sketchbooks as personal spaces to capture observations, emotions, and ideas. They also offer a great opportunity to explore and experiment with various drawing techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, sketchbooks provide a space to create freely and discover new possibilities.

Make Your Own Sketchbook
Make a sketchbook to take with you and draw everywhere you go. You can draw what you see and what you imagine.

Changing Light
As the sun moves across the sky from east to west, its light can change how objects look.
Find an object and draw it at least two different times during the day. How does the light change how it looks?

Design a Mural
Have you ever seen a mural in your neighborhood?
Artists paint murals to beautify their neighborhoods and tell stories about their communities. Is there a place in your neighborhood where you could imagine a mural? What kind of mural would you design?

Puddle Pictures
In the right light at the right angle, the surface of a puddle acts as a mirror and reflects images of the things above and around it.
Go outside after a rainstorm and find a puddle. What do you see? Can you find a reflection?
Draw your puddle picture with lines, values, or colors.

Clouds
What do clouds really look like? Do they come in different sizes? Go outside and or look out your window and see how many different kinds of clouds you can find and draw.
