Students will be able to identify and name different types of lines. They will use these lines to create an imaginary character.

Activities

Step 1

Discuss different types of lines and where we see them in the world around us.

Step 2

Demonstrate drawing different lines and have students explore drawing lines.

Step 3

Demonstrate choosing different lines to draw an imaginary character.

Step 4

Have students draw their own characters.

Reflection

Students will share their sketchbook drawings with each other. They will review the shapes and lines they used to draw their character.

Writing Prompt (Optional):
Students will label parts of their character and apply art vocabulary to their sketches.
